Summer in the park

A free summer program for children aged 6-12 at Hermance Park will be held this summer and run for six weeks, with a two week hiatus in early July. Director Elizabeth Hausbach, who has been with the program for five years, and her assistant Misti, expect between 12 and 25 children each day. Sponsored by the Bristol Parks Department, the program offers a variety of arts and crafts like making turtle statues, windsocks, and bead puzzles. There are also activities like musical chairs, water balloon chases and an presentation by 4H. After lunch, they take field trips to nearby spots, like the Elkhart County Historical Museum, the Library, and the Fire Station. Hours for the program are from 10am to 2pm - Monday through Friday.
